XW837 RED

First Flight: 28 September 1971. Second to fly

Purpose: Third prototype, AFCS flight test. Hot/high/cold trials.

Fate: By 1982 it was moved to Rolls Royce Filton as an engine test bed. Once its work there was complete, it was placed on the range at Shoeburyness. Between 1989 and 1991 (now only a fuselage), it appeared at Lee on Solent but was then moved to the Helicopter Museum at Weston-super-Mare in 1993. By 1997 it had found its way to the fire section at RNAS Yeovilton and was finally scrapped in 2003.
